Sylvia Petro
Sylvia has been her own personal trainer since becoming a mother in 2002. She became a certified personal trainer in 2005, and trained clients one-on-one and online for eight years before switching to 100% online coaching to help other women get fit and stay fit for life, regardless of budget.
In 2002, while young and broke, Sylvia had no choice but to be her own coach. After years of following unhealthy dieting practices and rarely exercising, she finally decided to get a handle on her overall health. Why? Because she was pregnant. For the first time in her life, she truly dedicated herself to eating healthfully. To start, she researched the basics of nutrition and began regular exercise. Two years later, while in the Air Force, she graduated as the Top Physical Readiness female (Top PRT) and a Warhawk for physical excellence. But despite her newly realized physical abilities, she knew she had more to learn to reach her new goal of lifelong fitness. Soon after setting that goal, she became a certified personal trainer, and through training dozens of clients, across age ranges and genders, and maintaining personal health and fitness for 18 years, she has developed, practiced, and administered many practical, affordable, and maintainable nutrition and exercise techniques. LLAFIT, formally Broke Single Mom Fitness (BSMF), teaches healthy and practical exercise and nutrition techniques that can be followed for life — no cocktail of supplements or crazy diet prescriptions required.

Sylvia’s Health and Fitness Perspective
In 2004, Sylvia was awarded Warhawk and Top Physical Readiness Trainee in the U.S. Air Force after training herself at home in her living room or hitting the pavement outside. She started exercising regularly for the first time in her life soon after becoming a new mom — three days after giving birth to her son, to be exact. Now she’s stronger than the Sylvia of the past, including the girl who earned Warhawk and Top PRT. Sure, that girl was younger, but she lacked experience and knowledge in exercise and nutrition. Since 2005, she has worked as a Certified Personal Trainer at Gold’s Gym, Spectrum, Blast, several private gyms, and now online. Sylvia doesn’t believe in fads or trends, only what works for long-term health and fitness. In the 18 years since starting her lifelong fitness journey, she’s never been without a six-pack, high energy, and most importantly, well-developed muscle.
Sylvia is knowledgeable and experienced in creating nutrition and training programs. Her areas of expertise are natural bodybuilding and calisthenic strength. For her, fitness is more about how she feels than aesthetics. More importantly, she believes in setting a positive example for her son, whom she wants to know that adulthood does not equate to being out of shape, as so many adults are these days. With his whole life ahead of him, she wants her son to look forward to being comfortable in his skin and having the energy and discipline to reach any goal. If you’re a parent, be fit for your kids. Set a healthy lifestyle example as a strong, disciplined adult.

In 2014, she dropped the low-wage reality of one-on-one personal training and decided to provide fitness advice online. Broke Single Mom Fitness deals with the realities of being a broke single parent, but mostly shares practical lifelong fitness and nutritional practices anyone can follow.
